Hello, I am Bonnie, I was born in Albury and lived in Wodonga during my adolescent years, I have lived in many different areas around Australia throughout my childhood and young adulthood. I made the decision to move back to this beautiful area with my husband 13 years ago to raise our three children. I love getting out in nature whether it be sitting by the river with a good book, or fossicking for gems and prospecting around Eldorado and surrounds. Music and dancing soothe my soul, as well as snuggling on the couch with my cats and dogs with a good movie.

I am a Mental Health Social Worker holding membership with the AASW. I have completed a Bachelor of Human Services and a Master of Social Work Degree obtained through Latrobe University, along with many other professional development and upskilling certificates. I have 14 years experience working within the community services sector in areas such as homelessness, out of home care (residential, foster and kinship), family violence and child, youth and family services. My experience includes providing case management support, crisis support, mental health support, group and therapeutic counselling services to children, adolescents, adults, parents/ carers and families, which is sensitive, respectful and trauma informed.

I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults who have lived experience of trauma, anxiety, depression and PTSD. As a permanent kinship carer to my third child, I have lived experience and understanding of the multidimensional complexities and statutory service interventions unique to carers in the foster and kinship care system.

I acknowledge the amount of trust and vulnerability it takes to engage in counselling (for an individual as well as for parents with their child). I also recognise the importance and value of building a trusting therapeutic alliance with the person, which is open, compassionate, non-judgmental and person centered. I endeavour to meet the person where they are at in their therapeutic journey, through collaboration, patience, flexibility, and being client led. I hold the space to explore, reflect, learn and heal which is in alignment with the person’s identified counselling goals, whilst strictly upholding their privacy and confidentiality rights.

I utilise a range of different focussed psychological modalities, approaches and lenses in practice, which is dependent and tailored to each person’s individual needs and circumstance. These can include (but not limited to): Trauma Informed, Attachment, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment, Narrative, Somatic, Sand Tray Therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping), Psycho-education, Relaxation Strategies and range of Creative Therapies. I utilise a collaborative, holistic and strength based approach with all people I work with, with the recognition that everyone has individual strengths and resources, and to see the multidimensional levels of the whole person.

I have recently completed The Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training- Level 1 & 2, which has strengthened my passion for supporting couples in building healthier, more connected relationships. Branching into couples work feels like a natural extension of my extensive experience working with individuals, parents and families in counselling. Over many years, I’ve supported people to navigate complex emotional landscapes, improve communication and foster meaningful change and deeper connection. Being married myself for over 15 years, I bring lived experience and a deep understanding of the complexities and commitment to sustaining a meaningful and fulfilling relationship. I now bring this foundation together with the evidence-based Gottman approach to offer couples a supportive, structured and compassionate space to understand each other more deeply and create lasting, positive shifts in their relationship.

I’m also excited to announce that I am now a Certified Hypnobirthing Birth Education Practitioner with Hypnobirthing Australia®. As a passionate Hypnobirthing Practitioner and a Hypnobirthing mum myself, I bring both professional and deeply personal experience to the families I support. Having experienced the beauty, calm, and strength of Hypnobirthing during my own birth, I know firsthand just how transformative it can be. That experience didn’t just shape my journey into motherhood, it strengthened my commitment to empowering others with the knowledge, confidence, and grounding that all parents deserve.

With my background in mental health and counselling, I understand that birth is not only a physical process but a deeply profound emotional and psychological one too. I offer a safe, supportive space for expectant parents to explore fears, build resilience, and learn evidence-based tools that foster calm, connection, and trust in their bodies. Whether it’s your first baby or you’re hoping for a different experience, my goal is to support you in creating a positive, informed, and conscious birth journey.
