Hi, I’m Steph! a qualified Registered Counsellor with a Master’s in Counselling and a Bachelor of Psychology. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, adults and families across the Albury–Wodonga community for the past 8 years, with experience spanning across disability, Mental Health, Behaviour Support Practice and Early Childhood Education.
I have a particular interest in trauma-informed practice and play-based therapeutic approaches. I am passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and adults in ways that honour their individual experiences, strengths, and preferred ways of communicating.
I have over three years of experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults aged 9 to 75 years through the NDIS. Throughout my career, I supported individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote autonomy, self-determination, and meaningful goal achievement.
I have experience working alongside people with diverse disabilities, neurodivergent presentations, mental health challenges, and trauma backgrounds. My approach focuses on empowering clients to have a voice in their own lives and supporting them to build skills, confidence, and resilience.
Prior to working in behaviour support, I worked within educational settings, where I developed a strong understanding of child development and the importance of play as a natural and powerful form of communication, learning, and emotional regulation.
Approach & Ongoing Development
My therapeutic approach is warm, relational, person-centred, and trauma-informed. I am passionate about creating a safe, welcoming, and non-judgemental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported.
I value the importance of genuine connection and believe that strong therapeutic relationships form the foundation for meaningful change. When working with children, I incorporate play-based approaches to foster engagement, expression, and emotional growth.
My strengths include authenticity, warmth, and ability to build genuine connections with others. I pride myself on being approachable, relatable, and open-minded.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, painting, and exploring local op shops. I love music and can often be found attending live concerts and performances. I also love a good binge watch when I can find the time.
